Ready To Wear Online Collection 2021 Maire Forkin Designs

I feel that the year ahead may bring about the industry’s most drastic transformation yet, as consumers and fashion retail navigate the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The glossy fashion events have been replaced by a growing market for season less items. Customers are now looking to make the most of each purchase. So, they endeavour to buy less and buy better.  I have kept this very much foremost in my mind while designing our Ready To Wear Online Collection 2021

Indeed, I have wanted to design a ready to wear range for quite some time before the Coronavirus ever started.

The existing “made to measure” service we currently provide has always been about designs that are timeless. And styles that contemporary investment pieces. We make garments to best flatter our client’s individual silhouette. We pay particular attention to the flattering shape, cut and quality finish.  I have always been sensitive about introducing proportions to flatter the body while keeping a modern perspective, aspects we have carried into our ready to wear collection.

Designer Range 2021

Over the past number of years, we have seen a growing demand among my clients for the versatility, clean-cut styles our designs offer, in particular, our mix and match pieces. An asymmetrical top and flared trouser combination, ideal for a special occasion for example, can also be later matched with skinny trousers to achieve a more relaxed contemporary look. The idea of removable sleeves, which allows garments to be carried through from day to evening. Additional snugs which allow the garments to be worn over different seasons: Secondary pull-on collars to give an outfit another look; removable separate faux fur cuffs which allow the garments to be carried into different seasons. Tops that can be worn with skirts or trousers as you wish, giving great versatility to  the wearer. All these features we have been including as part of our made to measure service over the years.

Feedback from our clients on the value of this mix and match investment pieces encouraged me to carry this concept into our ready to wear collection. We have only just begun this concept on our new capsule range. This idea led me to be sensitive about how I designed the facemask for example.  To give them an additional use during this difficult time, I have introduced complimentary matching scarves, optional fingerless gloves or the look of a French beret, all to provide a refined, elegant overall look to make wearing the facemask a little less difficult.

As part of our ready to wear on-line range, we have started with a few key pieces from separates to dresses, cape coats, and accessories, all available in sizes 8, 10, 12 and 14, and we will be introducing additional staple fashion items as we go along.

Among our styles we have wool A-line dresses with sweeping over cape detail in an easy fit. This dress carries very easily from day to evening, a court shoe in the evening or a pair of mid-calf length skinny boots during the day; pull on faux fur cuffs in colder seasons. Then there is the 1920’s flapper dress, which states relaxed glamour, styled with the modern woman in mind. We have designed our own multi-coloured silk prints which adds interest to this collection. These prints are introduced here in contrasting our exaggerated bell-shaped sleeves, raised necklines and shoulder bow detail. I feel that introducing print in this way makes the garments more commercial and adds uniqueness.

Both dresses and tops have also optional luxury faux fur cuffs, to carry these items across many seasons and looks. A detail which also features strongly in our dresses and tops are double layered hems and asymmetrical hemlines.

A 100% wool crepe cape coat,  has an exaggerated asymmetrical hemline and generous hood.  This cape is lined in a luxurious satin, a relaxed style which can be worn with casual slim leg trousers or also a lined skirt.

Accessories

Complimentary to our ready to wear collection, we have face coverings and accessories to match. We have designed 100% silk and 100% wool face coverings which are made with three layers of fabric with pockets for PM25 filters. They have adjustable ear-lobe straps and flexible nose wires. We designed our own silk prints for these masks which are cut sensitively to follow the contours of the face.

These face coverings can also be worn with matching fingerless gloves which remain on trend. They are a popular choice to complete the look. I also loved the idea of wearing berets with face masks, especially the black and white check. I think it is a very chic understated look. We can see here for instance the “Theo” black and white wool check face covering worn with a French beret for instance. This is a look I particularly like.

There is also the “Cubis” silk print face covering with matching wool and silk printed scarf which is a popular choice. Or the “Allure” a deep pink wool face covering which we have matched with outfits for Mother of the bride. For access to our online shop click the following link: https://www.maireforkin.ie/shop/

Events are going to come back stronger than ever. I think people are going to be very happy to celebrate and commemorate with others. We all need that personal connection. A proof of that is that our clients may have had to postpone their weddings. But none of them have cancelled them. They will still want that grand event. They may be going ahead with the small wedding now, but we are planning to have a larger gathering when it is safe to do so.  So, we feel a real energy and positivity about our future business.
